Keel

Once the seat frame is done, the next job is the Keel.

The manual is lacking in this are as it doesn't correctly detail how to orientate the stubs for the rear lower suspension arm fixings. There is no single hole at the front of the stub, as it now passes all the way through. Looking from the back of the keel the stubs should angle slightly down. The mast plates can then be fixed to what you should now know is the top of the keel tube.

Remember to align the holes in the studs. A bolt passed through both holes on either side helps with alignment. Don't over tighten these studs. If its tight and the hole is a long way round from alignment then back it off. There should be no slop in the stud, but over tightening will rotate the captive thread.

Orientation of the lower mast plates is important with the upper hole towards the front.

Apologies for this being blurred but it is the best I have to illustrate the orientation.

This is the drag link to keel fixing, with the lower seat frame visible. The hole takes the long bolt that passes through the rear of the lower seat frame to keel fixing, which also holds the rear of the pod. I would suggest you get this long bolt in now as it is a real pig to fit!

The keel and seat assemble should now look something like this. This is viewed from below the keel. Forwards is up. Lower right you can just make out the ignition switch cable which I have now fitted through the seat frame.
