Day 21 Another lousy day dawned. Too windy, and rain too. We were destined to spend the day looking at the windsock.
An Augusta flew in, so I had to get a shot. Airports must be ideal breeding grounds for rabbits, given the number that we see out of the cafe windows. Just for that ahhhh appeal.
1900 was out cut off, but the weather was improving so we mounted out trusty steeds and ventured out to the runway. We, (joined by another student), were on the disused runway, which was bumpy to say the least. This made it difficult to get into a stable rhythm. Luckily the wind moved around to the main runway, and so I was able to start my runs on that. First couple to get back into the groove, then back to the serious stuff of teasing into the air. Same as before with runs of very light on mains, and the odd minor excursion into the blue yonder. Well this has got to end, with messing around on "terror" firma, and I must make a concerted effort to get up. Next run, 5900, 6000, 6100 and yes up: Ye ha! 5 feet up but a little slow on landing but ok. Keel a little high to start but get that sorted. A few more of those and beginning to get the hang of it. Lower the nose once airborne, but the acceleration takes a little adjusting too, but starting to get it sorted. Landings are pedestrian, as they should be. This is "ORGASMIC". I LIKE this!!! Thanks to Dave Cole for the previous two pictures. What a day. It started off with little hope of getting time in, and then, at the end of the day, I got 1 hour 40 minutes in and managed to get my self off of mother earth. Wonderful. I know why I fly now!!! Onwards and upwards...
