Day 23

Another wet and windy day. We did at one point get the toys out as the wind dropped to usable levels, but no sooner ready than someone turned the fan back on again, so we put them away again.

I reckon I'm about 5 hours solo away from my GFT, but I've given up any chance of making it in what is left of the week. The forecast is not looking hopeful. If I'm lucky then I will get the other cross country in before I have to return home. I can't get another week off until mid August, so if I want to finish before then it will have to be weekends only. 6 hours drive each way though will make that hard: But worth it to get the license!

I don't suppose I will have my gyro sorted by then so it doesn't need to be hurried, I just feel I want to get it done.

To brighten things up here's a shot of a Notar, (No Tail Rotor). Notice the 3 rows of seats. Lots of power to spare.

Some might remember that Dave Bolsover, former lead of The Red Arrows, did his PPL(G) with Roger a couple of years ago. Since then he managed to find a VPM, and had some help in completely rebuilding it in Red Arrows colours, naturally! Here's a picture of Roger doing flight tests at Carlisle.

Dave also redid the panel, and those in the know might recognise some Hawk switchgear. Note the moving map GPS. Some other useful touches are fully upholstered leather seats, and the screen on the left is larger than that on the right, and spaced out to protect the throttle hand. Resettable fuses, A3E and intercom fully wired in. Nice! Apologies for the quality but they are pictures of pictures.
