Day 3 Joined by Martin, (another one), today. Weather was c$%p! Front moving through so squally, rainy etc. You know the picture... Martin managed to get in an hour, in three lots between storms. He was practicing straight and level so it was good training for him, and then onto throttle control so he learnt a lot. Unfortunately for the climbing/descending that I needed to do next the cloudbase was far to low, so a waiting game. Very used to this with triking so it's wait for friendlier skies. Of use today was briefings on power and effects of torque on both cyclic and yaw. We were briefed also on climbing and descending, which contrary to most other flight regimes is Power Attitude Trim for straight to climb to straight to down. Down to straight is slight different with Attitude Power Trim to avoid the power pushing you further down on leveling out. The trim refers to whatever amount of rudder is required to attain straight flight in yaw, and depends on the amount of power applied. So, no flying but another look around the hanger: And Chris Jones, training to be a flight instructor. Poor sod! This shows how "resourceful" you can get to protect that very expensive Prince P tip propeller. The helmet is meant to show the Blue Peter badge on the front but that doesn't show up too well!!! And you won't see this many together in many other places! |
